Updated, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 4:45 p.m.: Four-month-old Faith Swilley died Thursday afternoon after receiving injuries in a head-on car crash Sunday, one of nine people injured by the crash.

Swilley’s death is the second to result from the crash, following six-year-old Steve Morton who died at the hospital on Monday.

The three-vehicle crash occurred on SR 26 near Gum Root Park. Five of the nine people injured were children, and four of the children and one of the adults had serious injuries.

All nine were taken to UF Health Shands Hospital for treatment.

Michael Cowart, Gainesville Fire Rescue spokesman, said “Seatbelts and car seats saved lives today and prevented further injuries.”
