Ocala Man Killed In Domestic Disturbance Shooting

An Ocala man died Wednesday morning after a domestic disturbance turned into a shooting Tuesday evening.

Mark Penland, 53, was rushed to Ocala Regional Medical Center where he died early Wednesday morning from a gunshot wound at his address at 8311 SE 16th Terrace. According to press release, Marion County Sheriff’s Office detectives have named Penland’s wife, Michelle Dinkins-Penland, 44 , as a suspect, although the case is still under investigation.

At 9 p.m. Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call, which was changed to a shooting call en route. When the deputies arrived at the residence where Penland and his wife both live, they performed CPR until emergency medical services arrived and took him to the hospital where he later died.

According to the press release,the State Attorney’s Office will review the case after the investigation is completed.
