Gainesville Police Department spokesman Ben Tobias released this information Sunday morning:

Shortly after 2am, GPD and GFR responded to a male found unconscious, bleeding profusely and without a pulse as a result of an apparent fall. Ofcs Rengering and Cavett were first on-scene and administered CPR until relieved by EMS. ACFR transported Chance W. Wolf, WM, 3/30/95 to UF Health Shands where he was pronounced deceased at 0235 hrs.

A review of security video from multiple cameras shows Wolf exit the 6th floor elevator, walk down the hallway, and open the double doors that overlook an interior courtyard, and walk forward apparently falling over the waist high glass partition [Editor’s note: Tobias wrote later Sunday to clarify the wall is measured at 46 inches, higher than waist height] to the ground below. (Per Florida Statute, this video is confidential/exempt and will not be released.) GPD Detectives and Forensics units responded to assist in the investigation. There is no evidence of foul play in this incident.

Alachua County and UF crisis counselors also responded to assist the 6th floor residents the majority of whom were Wolf’s fraternity brothers. Wolf was a UF student from Weston FL.
