AVID program aids struggling Bronson middle and high school students

By Kate Schofield - WUFT Contributor

For one period every day, students at Bronson Middle/High School seek to become more avid learners.

The AVID (or Advancement Via Individual Determination) program in Levy County teaches strategies for success and helps students learn organizational, questioning, and collaboration skills. Struggling students bring up their grades with the help of the program and staff like Genny Foshee.

Foshee, an AVID teacher, said the students are her "babies."

"They learn to love themselves and be proud of themselves," she said. "AVID is why I come to work everyday."
