State Road 235 is closed in order to replace and repair the railroad crossing between Alachua and La Crosse. Florida Department of Transportation Spokeswoman Laurie Windham says it was critical to get started on this project to prevent possible accidents.

Windham adds Road 235 has been closed since Saturday and although rocky weather caused some delays they are still scheduled to reopen March 31st, as planned.
