Officials say two children were hit by a car as they walked to summer school in Macclenny this morning. Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Bill Leeper says an 11-year-old boy suffered critical injuries and a 12-year-old girl was also injured. Leeper says the children were trying to cross the road at around 7 a.m. when a vehicle struck them. The boy was taken to Shands Jacksonville and the girl is being treated at a Baker County hospital.
