Florida unemployment levels dropping

A dampened construction market has contributed to high unemployment in Ocala. Agency for Workforce Innovation Chief Economist, Rebecca Rust says the city has the second highest unemployment rate of metropolitan areas in the state.

“This is our lowest unemployment rate since November of 2009. When we look at both the drop of this month and last month, of February and March, over the month these drops were the largest since October of 2002,” Rust said.

The March unemployment figures showed Gainesville with the lowest level of unemployment. Florida unemployment overall dropped .4% to 11.1%.
