With wildfires continuing to burn thousands of acres of land in North Central Florida, the commercial and residential properties on the front line can be at risk. Institute for Business and Home Safety President and CEO, Julie Rochman, says embers can be a bigger threat than the flames themselves.
“Those little sparks can cause a fire that then can move to the roof or siding or lawn furniture and that type of thing will burn very long and very hot and can engulf the entire house,” she says.
Rochman says keeping your yard free of debris and gutters clean can help prevent embers from sparking serious flames.
