Alachua County school board members discuss the Governor’s proposed budget plans

By

Alachua County School Board members held a meeting Tuesday night and a topic of discussion was Governor Rick Scott’s proposed budget plan. With the state of Florida facing the largest budget cut in history, education programs alone will suffer more than $3.3 billion in cuts. Alachua County School Board Member Gunnar Paulson says, Governor Rick Scott is giving tax cuts instead to other corporations, by making public employees such as teachers, contribute to the Florida Retirement system, and teachers should not be the only ones asked to contribute. A rally called “Awake the State” will be held next Tuesday, March 8th, to show support for public employees.
