UF faculty member in Cairo: an update

Since protestors took to the streets of Cairo last week in opposition to the Mubarek regime, the drama remains, as Egyptian state TV reports president Mubarek wants to stay in office until elections in September. Earlier this week on our Front Page edition of All Things Considered, we spoke with University of Florida telelcommunication faculty member Rasha Kamhawi from Cairo, who said anti-government protestors felt safe, and that they were optimistic. But the next night, pro-Mubarek forces countered with attacks on their opponents, as well as attacks on some journalists. WUFT-FM’s Tom Krynski followed up with Dr.Kamhawi in Cairo again today(Friday), to assess where things stand , following the violence.
