Alabama governor ousts a top education official over a book’s ‘woke concepts’ on race

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey delivers her State of the State address on March 7. On Friday, the governor announced she had replaced her director of early childhood education over the use of a teacher training book.

Gov. Ivey replaced her director of early childhood education over the use of a teacher training book that Ivey said teaches “woke concepts” because of language about inclusion and structural racism.
