With the holiday season fast approaching, food banks around North Central Florida are beginning to stock up and prepare for higher demand. Bread of the Mighty Food Bank Director Anne Voyles says they raised more than 4 million pounds of food over the entire year last year, but it was still not enough.
She says the number of working poor is growing every year.
Voyles says this time of year is difficult, because people are asked to give to so many different organizations. Bread of the Mighty is looking for food, toiletries, and even small gifts to make the holidays brighter for families. The warehouse distributes these items to a number of agencies around North Central Florida, and Voyles says people with all levels of need can find help through them.
