University of Florida employees had heard earlier that because of a larger budget, pay raises might be on the way.
And, indeed, they are.
In a Monday email to faculty and staff, President Bernie Machen
wrote that effective Oct. 1, staff and faculty who make less than $40,000
will get $1,400 increases to their base salaries.
Staff making more than $40,000 will receive a 3.5 percent salary increase. Faculty making more than $40,000 will receive a $1,000 increase. Machen also said funds are available for faculty merit raises.
"These pay increases recognize UF employees for their accomplishments during a period of tough budget circumstances," Machen wrote.
The increases, he noted, help push UF's salaries closer to the level of other members of the Association of American Universities.
