The University of Florida is cracking down on alcohol policies after autopsy results for a UF student confirms traces of alcohol abuse. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office says alcohol poisoning was responsible for Molly Ammon’s death over spring break. Department of Health Education Associate Professor Virginia Dodd says UF is taking measures to ensure safety.
“We also want to remove any influences from the environment that will foster a student’s poor decision making so we try to focus on working within the service, the alcoholic beverages, training service personnel and making sure we don’t have drink specials that are just really outrageous,” she said.
This is the first alcohol-related death of a UF student since UF changed its alcohol policy six years ago.
