Luis Giraldo is the director of The Conversation and a senior telecommunication major at the University of Florida where he is also pursuing minors in Spanish and violin performance. When he is not out in the field reporting or playing music, he is still looking for a great story and a great way to tell it. He has worked for WUFT since 2011, reporting in Spanish and in English, directing and producing and recently spent a summer in Portland interning with Oregon Public Broadcasting’s daily radio show Think Out Loud. Luis was also named the Jon R. Tuttle diversity intern that summer.

Leah Harding is an undergraduate telecommunications and Arabic language and culture double major at the University of Florida. She is from Orlando but has lived in New Zealand, Ethiopia and Jordan. Leah has been producing and reporting for Florida’s 89.1 WUFT-FM since the Fall of 2011. She intends to work as an international news correspondent in the Middle East after graduation in 2014, merging her proficiency in Arabic with her passion for telecommunications.

Mike Gillespie is a first-year multimedia journalism master’s student at the University of Florida. He is an announcer for Gator Sports Network’s presentation of UF softball and lacrosse and anchors the Football Friday sportscasts on WUFT-TV. He also freelances as a production assistant for ESPN, FOX Sports and Comcast Sports Southeast. During his time with WUFT he has hosted the Front Page Edition of NPR’s All Things Considered and WUFT-TV News First at 5. He is a classically trained pianist and began his musical talent at age seven.

Jessica Kegu is a senior at the University of Florida where she is majoring in journalism and minoring in Spanish and business. She has interned with the local newspaper, The Gainesville Sun, and worked at UF’s student-run paper, the Independent Florida Alligator. During her junior year she spent six months abroad studying at a university in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She hopes to one day combine her love of money and journalism by making money as a journalist.
