The Dream Defenders have taken the issue of Florida’s “stand your ground” law to the United Nations with an 8-page shadow report summarizing why the law violates the United States’ civil rights obligations.
James Stevens, 81, shot Lonnie Hollingsworth Jr., 28, one time in the abdomen. The case is still under investigation, and it is unknown whether the “stand your ground” defense will apply.
