In 2009, Congress named Sept. 11 a National Day of Service and Remembrance to honor the victims of that infamous day. The bipartisan decision encouraged people to take action, and on Wednesday, the tradition continued in Gainesville.

UF, and the city of Gainesville, hosted multiple events on Tuesday to honor and remember the victims of September 11. On campus, the Lubavitch-Chabad Jewish Student Center and the Lubavitch-Chabad Student Group hosted a “Good Deed Mitzvah Marathon.”

Gainesville firefighters gathered Tuesday morning at Station No. 1 to honor the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
