Gainesville Adopts Plan to Form Arts Council, Improve Website

The Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department adopted its 352ArtsRoadmap Cultural Plan on Thursday. The 10-year plan aims to enhance and promote the city’s arts community through an arts council and website.

Many Gainesville Market Vendors Disappointed With Relocation

The relocation of the Union Street Farmers Market downtown location has brought changes for vendors. Charlie Lybrand, owner of Land of Flowers Farms and director of the market, said his business has decreased 50 percent since the move. Others saw increases.

Faire Characters Share Medieval Hoggetowne Tales

The Hoggetowne Medieval Faire will feature merchants and artisans beginning on Saturday to deliver what one man calls a truly magical and authentic experience. The Faire will take place at the Alachua County Fairgrounds on Jan. 24 through 25 and Jan. 30 through Feb. 1.

City golf course hoping to find new management

The Ironwood Golf Course, owned and operated by the city of Gainesville, is hoping to find a new maintenance team for the course to run and improve the state of the course.
