Alachua County Schools Receive $1.2 Million

Gov. Rick Scott awarded a $1,277,312 check to 20 Alachua County schools Tuesday at Stephen Foster Elementary School. The money is part of the Florida School Recognition Program which is giving $124 million to schools statewide.

Florida House Bills Allowing Concealed Carry In Schools Pass Judiciary Committee

Two bills proposing changes to existing state standings on concealed weapons and firearms in schools won favorable votes in the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday. HB 4005 and HB 19 will now be put to a vote on the House floor before moving on to the state Senate.

First Case Of Enterovirus D-68 Confirmed In Alachua County

Alachua County child was diagnosed with enterovirus D-68, a flu-like disease that has no vaccine or treatment. The CDC said there have been more reported cases this year than ever before.
