Paws on Parole is a prison-based training program that allows for women inmates to live and train with dogs for eight weeks. The dogs, taken from shelters, enter into this program to learn basic training, and to eventually, be adopted.
The Alachua County Animal Services and Florida Department of Corrections Work Camp is working together with this year’s “Hairy Pawter” dog academy to prepare a new group of house-trained dogs for homes.
Proud adoptive families watched as their pets-to-be received AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificates at the The Paws On Parole 30th Academy Graduation ceremony on Friday morning.
