Ocala firefighters responded to a vehicle fire Wednesday afternoon. The fire destroyed the vehicle and halted rush hour traffic.
Silver Springs absorbed into state park system

Palace Entertainment announced Wednesday that Florida’s oldest theme park, Silver Springs, in Ocala, will be absorbed into the state park system. The animal exhibits and some amusement rides may be eliminated.

Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan competed with hot weather and a heated crowd of his opponents’ supporters at a campaign event in Ocala today. The Republican congressman from Wisconsin answered North Central Florida residents’ questions in a town hall style campaign event. The event was held in the Ocala Downtown Square, where the temperature hovered around 87 degrees.
