Some residents at Dignity Village lack adequate shelter from summer storms. An evacuation plan that would transport Dignity Village residents is being drafted, according to the city manager’s office.
Severe weather continued to impact towns in Oklahoma and Texas over the holiday weekend. The tornadoes and floods have taken a toll on the surrounding communities, leaving residents to salvage their belongings left in the aftermath. The recent flood in Central Texas has left 12 missing along the Blanco River.
Recent flooding of the Suwannee and Santa Fe rivers, in part caused by heavy rainfall, have forced some tubing and canoeing businesses to shutter, residents to evacuate and caused damage to riverside properties.
Update 1:11 p.m.: Gainesville’s tornado watch was cancelled late this morning. Alachua County is in the clear.
