Alachua County Wage Theft Protection Ordinance in Effect

Alachua County’s Wage Theft Protection Ordinance, which was passed in April with a 3 to 2 vote, went into effect Jan. 1. Unpaid and underpaid employees who have sought to resolve issues with their employers can file an official complaint.

Four cases of fungal meningitis confirmed in Marion County

Four fungal meningitis cases have been confirmed in Florida, according to Gov. Rick Scott. The national outbreak of this disease, which usually results from a spread of a fungus to the spinal cord, has killed eight people.
