How North Central Florida Teachers Compare in Salary and Education

WUFT recently analyzed salaries and benefits for teachers in select North Central Florida counties. Florida is $10,000 less than the national average, and the situation is equally grim in Alachua, Marion, Putnam and other counties.
Local teachers file lawsuit over evaluation legislation

Janine Plavac and Kim Cook are two of the teachers involved in a lawsuit against both the state and district school boards. The suit has filed in response to legislation that requires teachers to be evaluated from student test scores.
Florida releases teacher evaluations, Alachua fairs well

In a report released Thursday, many teachers were evaluated based on a new value-added score method and reviews by the principals of their school. Many educators are in an uproar about the scores because of inconsistencies between districts and because many teachers have yet to be evaluated.
