The request to reappoint Matthew Brower as Ocala’s city manager was rejected on a three-to-two vote by the Ocala City Council. Brower was appointed city manager in February 2011, and his contract will now expire on Dec. 21.

Incumbent District 3 City Councilman Jay Musleh is running for his first full term as a city council member. Musleh says his experience as a banker and his one-and-a-half-year term as a city council member qualifies him to serve a full term.

Aaron Fiehn is running for Ocala City Council because he wants to represent the people. Fiehn said he’s a common man, and that he relates to the people of Ocala.
