Marion County Sheriff’s Office Requests $8 Million Funding Increase

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is seeking an additional $8 million in funding to provide more deputies, corrections officers and cars for its fleet. All of this is needed for public safety.

Victim shoots person of interest in attempted robbery

James Stevens, 81, shot Lonnie Hollingsworth Jr., 28, one time in the abdomen. The case is still under investigation, and it is unknown whether the “stand your ground” defense will apply.
