The Alachua County Commission voted Tuesday to end discussions with the third candidate they offered the county manager position, and to extend an offer to the deputy manager currently serving the county.

Robert “Hutch” Hutchinson was the only county commissioner serving when a nationwide search was last conducted to choose Alachua County’s manager.

Potential Alachua County Manager James Bourey has one week to answer the Alachua County Commission. They increased his base salary offer from $160,000 to $165,000.
As commissioners ranked candidates, Bourey was first, Stockton Whitten of Brevard County was second and Charles Oliver of Pensacola was third.
