Women Volunteers To Build Eighth Home In Alachua County

Alachua Women Build recently finished its seventh home for Habitat for Humanity and will break ground on the eighth home Oct. 15.

The seventh house, named the Memorial House, is now home to a single mother and her four children, who moved in over the summer.

Gainesville Partnership Gives New Life to Old Homes

Gainesville’s Community Redevelopment Agency has partnered with Alachua Habitat for Humanity to create the Partnership for Paint program, which helps Gainesville residents update their homes through painting and repairs, for a reduced out-of-pocket fee.

Habitat for Humanity Foreclosure-Rehab Plan Helps Marion County Serve Families

A new foreclosure-rehab plan that allows Habitat for Humanity programs refurbish previously foreclosed houses has helped Marion County better service more families. Marion County Habitat for Humanity was one of the 50 chosen for the plan from about 1,500 affiliates.

Habitat for Humanity volunteer won’t stop after four decades

Jan LeDuc could have resigned herself to a retired life of leisure, but she prefers moving furniture, caulking windows, and going Dumpster diving for parts around home sites for Habitat for Humanity. She’s volunteered for the organization since 1986, building houses for needy families in Alachua County, and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
