Gainesville Police issued 10 citations in the first month of Florida’s texting while driving ban. Drivers ages 18 to 25 have received more than half of the 10 citations, said Ben Tobias, Gainesville Police Department spokesperson.

Gainesville Police Department installed a speeding radar last week in hopes of keeping residents and drivers safer. The radar was placed along Northwest 31st Drive after many residents voiced their concerns.

Nicholas Koster, a 20-yar-old Gainesville man, stripped down naked and jumped through a window after eating psilocybin mushrooms. Police found him around 4 a.m. Saturday with a cut on his back from the window.
A woman at Campus Lodge Apartments fended off an attacker by kicking him and running to her apartment Tuesday, escaping an attempted kidnapping.
