Alachua County Commission Considers GFR Assistance To Combat Ambulance Shortage

The lack of Alachua County Fire Rescue ambulances able to respond to medical emergencies is causing concern for some. The proposal to use additional ambulances from Gainesville Fire Rescue, suggested by the Strengthen Gainesville group, will be reviewed at a county commission meeting on Aug 10.

Majority Of Fire Inspections Don’t Check Out

The newest data on Gainesville’s statGNV shows that over half of all existing buildings in Gainesville received some type of violation. These violations include broken emergency exit signs, incorrect outlet cover plates and untested sprinkler systems.

Gainesville Honors 9/11 Victims With Service, Good Deeds

In 2009, Congress named Sept. 11 a National Day of Service and Remembrance to honor the victims of that infamous day. The bipartisan decision encouraged people to take action, and on Wednesday, the tradition continued in Gainesville.
