On Monday, Florida’s marriage licenses and certificate applications recognized gay marriage by changing the terms “bride” and “groom” to the gender-neutral term “spouse.” While this is another victory for the LGBT community, they still face unresolved issues regarding other legal documents, such as birth certificates.
The U.S. Supreme Court handed down a 5-4 decision today that states must recognize same-sex unions citing 14th Amendment protections. Here are some reactions from Florida:
