High Springs school gets firsthand Holocaust lesson from 95-year-old National Guard vet

The entire seventh-grade class at High Springs Community School also left on a field trip Tuesday morning to the Holocaust museum in St. Petersburg as part of the school’s unit on remembering the Holocaust.

In addition to the multimillion dollar changes Gov. Rick Scott has proposed to reform the state education system, the Florida Senate Committee on Education recently approved Senate Bill 980, which seeks to link teachers’ evaluations to the students they teach.
Gov. Rick Scott proposes $2,500 pay raise for teachers

Gov. Rick Scott proposed a $2,500 pay raise for full-time teachers in a speech at Ocoee Middle School in Orlando. His proposal must be approved by state legislature and comes after another proposal to increase K-12 funding.
