GRU To Pay $7,750 For Spilling Nearly One Million Gallons of Sewage

Gainesville Regional Utilities is facing lower fines for two sewage spills over the summer. Compared to a 140,000-gallon spill in 2005 that resulted in a $10,000 fine, GRU is being fined $7,750 for one sewage spill of nearly 1 million gallons and another of 58,000 gallons.

Alachua County Wants Hearing About GREC’s Operations Air Permit

Commissioners agreed to request an administrative hearing with Florida Department of Environmental Protection regarding its intent to issue an air permit to GREC. The request is due Monday.
