The Florida Department of Health in collaboration with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation sent letters today to eight manufacturers of anti-fungal medications, urging the manufacturers to ensure an adequate supply of medication remains available to treat patients with fungal meningitis in Florida.

Four cases of fungal meningitis confirmed in Marion County

Four fungal meningitis cases have been confirmed in Florida, according to Gov. Rick Scott. The national outbreak of this disease, which usually results from a spread of a fungus to the spinal cord, has killed eight people.
