Florida Cyclists Deaths Highest in Nation, New Precautions Taken

The city of Gainesville and the Florida Department of Transportation are proposing new programs to cut down on bicycle deaths and improve safety conditions for cyclists and pedestrians. The Centers for Disease Control recently published a report that shows Florida had the highest bicycle deaths rate in the country from 2008-2012.

Gainesville Sentiment Still Mixed On Eighth Avenue Bike Lane Trial Period

The trial period is meant to see how the lane changes will affect traffic flow and safety. The city is monitoring driver, cyclist and pedestrian activity and will examine results once the trial concludes in late November.
