Local teachers file lawsuit over evaluation legislation

Janine Plavac and Kim Cook are two of the teachers involved in a lawsuit against both the state and district school boards. The suit has filed in response to legislation that requires teachers to be evaluated from student test scores.
Florida teachers disappointed in Supreme Court decision

The Florida Supreme Court ruled to uphold the law requiring public employees to contribute three percent of their salaries to the state pension system Thursday. The 4-3 decision affirmed the law that went into effect July 1, 2011. The Florida Education Association opposes the law, which is backed by Republican legislature.
