Deputy Zac Zedalis will continue his campaign for Alachua County Sheriff after being placed on administrative suspension last week. An investigation is ongoing for a reported domestic battery incident that occurred last Thursday between the deputy and his wife, Sergeant Kathleen Zedalis of ACSO, who has also been suspended.
Governor Rick Scott passed a bill May 22 that will allow for concealed carry of a weapon without a license for 48 hours after a mandatory evacuation has been ordered during the state of an emergency. Although it is already a law, some are questioning details pertaining to certain aspects of the bill.
Zac Zedalis, a detective for the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, is running for Alachua County Sheriff in 2016. He will focus on the issues of low morale, budget concerns and cultural issues.
Alachua County officials are on high alert after a slew of home invasions this week. Five houses were burglarized over a span of seven hours.
