Zimmerman wants better management of evidence – Attorneys are asking for monthly hearings to manage the turnover of evidence from prosecutors to defense lawyers in the trial of George Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch volunteer charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman’s attorneys said in a motion Monday that prosecutors aren’t turning information over in a timely manner and are providing some material in a format that’s useless for defense experts to examine. Supreme Court to Hear Case on Arizona Voter Registration – The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments early next year in the case of an Arizona state law that requires proof of citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections. U.S. court panel upholds ruling against Miccosukees on IRS files – A panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Monday the Internal Revenue Service can subpoena records as part of a tax investigation into the gambling profits of an Indian tribe in the Everglades west of Miami. The decision to allow the IRS to proceed with its efforts to obtain the financial records of the Miccosukee tribe upholds a lower court ruling.
