State ethics commission: David Rivera broke 11 ethics laws while serving in Florida Legislature – State authorities charged Congressman David Rivera Wednesday of 11 counts of violating ethics laws. The Republican congressman, who was elected to Congress in 2010 after eight years in the Florida Legislature, issued a statement Wednesday calling the ethics charges “false,” and criticizing the state Ethics Commission for releasing its findings so close to Election Day. Barnes & Noble says thieves tampered with PIN pads – Barnes & Noble announced Wednesday that bugs were planted in the PIN pads at 63 of its stores, allowing credit card and PIN numbers to be stolen. The retailer said customers who shopped at the 63 affected stores as recently as last month may be victims. The tampering affected fewer than 1 percent of the retailer’s PIN pads. FBI joins probe of bogus Fla. vote purge letters – The FBI will investigate bogus letters sent to many Florida voters that raise questions about their eligibility to cast ballots.
