A crime alert was distributed Friday afternoon to the Gainesville and University of Florida community alerting residents to an active investigation of two armed robberies.

GPD investigating Advantage Towing

Advantage Towing & Recovery Inc., a Gainesville-based towing company, is being investigated by the Gainesville Police Department for illegal actions. Multiple complaints from residents led to the investigation.
GPD: Campus Lodge attack was made up

An attack at the Campus Lodge apartments was made up by a resident of the complex. Tanya Borachi said the story was supposed to be a lesson to women that an attack in the area is possible.
GPD names a person of interest in armed burglary and sexual battery case

Andre Locus, 19, may be connected to an April 15th residential burglary and sexual battery case. He was arrested Tuesday for a 2011 sexual battery case.
