Isreal Zachariah Smith and Bruce E. Dutton were arrested Wednesday in response to a tip about a possible meth lab.
UF study shows turtle species still suffering from past harvesting

Between the 1960s and 1980s, the northern map turtle population significantly decreased. Two local experts studied the population and were recently published in Volume three of Copeia, a publication pertaining to fish, reptiles and amphibians.

William Matthew Ford Jr. fled to Orlando after allegedly beating his live-in girlfriend and her disabled friend. He has still not been located, according to a Gainesville Police Department release.

Tallahassee lawmaker proposes 7 percent pay hike for state workers

State Rep. Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda proposed a 7 percent pay raise for state employees and government professionals. Funding would come from the current budget surplus as well as more efficiently collecting taxes.
