Proposed bill would allow Congress members to opt out of pension plans

Congressman Richard Nugent proposed a bill known as the “Congress is Not a Career Act,” which would allow all members of Congress to opt out of their taxpayer-funded pension plans.
Repeal of ‘stand your ground’ must survive trip through original co-sponsor’s committee

Florida Rep. Alan Williams proposed a bill last week that if passed would repeal the law that received a lot of attention after the killing of Treyvon Martin almost a year ago. Williams believes the law has failed. The repeal of the law will have to go through the House Judiciary Committee charied by Rep. Dennis Baxley, an original co-sponsor of the law.
Yoho says no to signing no-tax pledge

Florida Congressman-elect, Ted Yoho did not sign the “No Tax” pledge written by lobbyist Grover Norquist. He said signing the Norquist pledge would have left him too strictly bound to do his job the right way.

Hannah Becker is a senior at the University of Florida. She’s also a diabetic. Becker was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was 10 and has been learning how to control the condition since then.
Suspect in Christian Aguilar disappearance investigation purchased shovel and duct tape

The search for Christian Aguilar continued Wednesday at the Alachua County Fairgrounds. The University of Florida student went missing Thursday, and despite extensive search efforts, no evidence has been found.
