Former Alachua County teacher gets deferred prosecution

Glen Nichol, Alachua County Teacher of the Year for 2012, has agreed to a deferred prosecution agreement following a sworn complaint for inappropriately touching at least one of his students at Lawton Chiles Elementary School.
Homeless census reports a decrease in street-dwellers

The results of a recent census released by the Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless and Hungry shows that the number of homeless people in Gainesville have decreased. It is expected that the actual number of homeless people might actually be higher than last year’s results.
Post office to cut Saturday mail delivery

The U.S. Postal Service will no longer deliver mail on Saturdays. The cutback will be enforced starting in August in order to aid the service’s financial struggles.
UF Student Health Care Center administers free flu shots

The UF Student Health Care Center helped fight flu season by offering free flu shots to students, faculty members and staff Wednesday afternoon.
