Senate Bill 228 passed its first round of voting on Tuesday 7 to 2. The bill will make online voting registration possible and enable current voters to update information. If passed, the bill states online services will be available Jan. 1, 2016.

Horses act as therapy animals for people with disabilities, special needs children and veterans with PTSD in a local program called HOPE. With recent expansions, HOPE now has funding to create an employment model to help veterans in their program to find a job.

UF received low level shooting threats from 15 separate Twitter accounts Tuesday night. The FBI and UFPD are currently investigating the author of the tweets. The University of Louisville received a similar threat on Monday.

Alachua County is the second county in Florida to provide a text-to-911 service. Text-to-911, which launched Nov. 3, allows emergency services to locate and assist individuals in need by routing their message to the appropriate 911 center. Senders receive bounce-back messages if a text does not go through.
