Camp Blanding Gets Grant for Safety System Improvements

Camp Blanding military base in Starke will be undergoing two safety system upgrades thanks to funds from a grant. The upgrades are to be completed by 2014.

Alachua County Part Of Grant For Increasing Solar Panel Accessibility

Alachua County is part of a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to make solar panels more accessible to residents. The county will use its share of the $1.575 million grant to create a system on its website to help residents obtain solar panel installation permits.

Disney Conservation Funds Central Florida Restoration Project

The Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund has given a $25,000 grant to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for a three-year restoration project in the Lake Wales Ridge Wildlife and Environmental Area.

String Cheese Incident Hosting Halloween Festival At Suwannee Music Park

The Spirit of Suwannee Music Park will have a halloween-themed music festival from Thursday to Saturday. “Hulaween” is hosted by the band String Cheese Incident and is expected to bring many tourists to Suwannee County and nearby Live Oak.

Florida’s Agriculture Industry Continues To Grow

Florida’s agriculture industry is continuing to grow, according to a report released last week by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The report titled “Florida Agriculture: By the Numbers” cited increased sales of oranges, honey and other agricultural commodities.
