HOPE Comes On Four Legs For Veterans

Horses act as therapy animals for people with disabilities, special needs children and veterans with PTSD in a local program called HOPE. With recent expansions, HOPE now has funding to create an employment model to help veterans in their program to find a job.

Cosplayers Take Anti-bullying Initiative To Next Level

Longtime Gainesville cosplayer Erin McConnell is spearheading a Facebook initiative called “Heroes United Against Cosplay Bullying,” which encourages cosplayers — costume role-playes — to combat cyberbullying.

Ocala Artisan’s Puppets Carved Up For Adoption at Medieval Fairs

Local artisan Bob Walker plans to sell his lifelike puppets at the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire in Gainesville on Saturday. He and his team, Midsummer Knight’s Dream, make and sell these “Woodbabies” at various fairs throughout the year.

Abused LGBT Partners Now Have An Alachua County Support Group
