Gainesville and University police departments have been taking extra steps in screening for suspicious packages in light of the bombing at the Boston Marathon.
Florida House committee passes bill to support programs to neuter, release feral cats

A bill to support programs to capture, neuter and vaccinate feral cats, and return them to their original location passed a Florida House of Representatives subcommittee Wednesday. An Alachua County program already offers these services.
Recent scooter accident raises safety concerns

A recent scooter accident on North Main Street has raised concern about scooter safety in Gainesville. A 51-year-old woman was seriously injured when a motorist hit her scooter while making a turn into a gas station. She was not wearing a helmet.
