One Killed, Two Injured, Including An 11-Month-Old, In Wednesday Night House Shooting

Police say a man was killed and two others, including a baby, were injured when two masked men forced their way into a Gainesville home late Wednesday night and began shooting. Antonio Mason, 35, was holding his 11-month-old daughter inside a house at 820 NW 4th Place when he was fatally shot in the chest. The infant and a 21-year-old man were both shot in the arm and were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

City Hall Investigating Complaints Of Public Defecation At Downtown Business Entrances

A voicemail to Gainesville City Hall from a South Main Street business owner frustrated over finding someone had again defecated at the entrance to his business has prompted the city to investigate. Gainesville Mayor Lauren Poe, who received the voicemail earlier this week, said he has asked the city manager, the police chief and code enforcement to look into the problem as quickly as possible.
