The City of Lake City has issued a water boil advisory after a water main broke Friday morning causing the city's water system to lose pressure.

While some homes and businesses briefly lost water completely, most experienced partial pressure loss. The affected areas are between Interstate 75 and US 441 east and west, and between Lake Jeffery Road and Bascom Norris Drive north and south.

As a precaution, the city advises those who experienced total pressure loss to boil their water for two minutes before drinking. Those who experienced only partial loss do not need to boil their water.

The city anticipates that the boil advisory will be lifted by tomorrow morning, barring any unforeseen complications, according to Mike Lee, Lake City public information officer.
