'Any Day You're In America's A Great Day': Camp Blanding Honors 9/11 Anniversary

Camp Blanding Joint Training Center in Starke held a ceremony on Saturday commemorating the 15th anniversary of the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The ceremony was coordinated by the Florida National Guard, Camp Blanding and the Camp Blanding Museum.

Speakers included Camp Blanding's Command Sgt. Maj. Robert M. Hosford, Capt. John Williams of the Florida Air National Guard, and U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho.

Yoho — who represents Florida's third congressional district, which includes Camp Blanding — was "humbled" to give the ceremony's keynote speech.

"Any chance I get to honor our military — active, retired or deceased — I'm going to do it," he said. "And I've done that throughout my life, not just as a politician."

Dr. George Cressman, the president of the Camp Blanding Museum Association, said that since 9/11, 19,802 Florida National Guard troops in army and air alone have deployed in the fight against terrorism.
